The Cogwheel Cambridge Stride – Sunday 18th May 2025
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by problems encountered with the online registration in recent days. Registration is available on the day from 7.30am at Histon for all distances and 8am at Shelford Rugby Club for the 6- and 13-mile routes. All those who have registered online will receive on-the-day event information and how to download the route app by Saturday afternoon.
Cogwheel Counselling is once again organising the Cogwheel Cambridge Stride, a special community walking/running event taking place on Sunday 18th May 2025. We also hope the event will promote the importance of mental wellbeing.
The Stride is a 27-mile self-guided walk around the perimeter of Cambridge, with shorter options of 13 and 6 miles for walkers and runners. The Stride uses the historic River Cam as the spine of the walk, with Grantchester Meadows as its most southerly point before it rejoins the Cam past Stourbridge Common on the northern part of the route. The Stride passes through a number of charming Cambridgeshire villages.
The 27-mile marathon distance walk starts and finishes in Histon, with registration on the day between 7.30am and 8am.
There is a choice of two starting points for the 6- and 13-mile options, either in Histon or at Shelford Rugby Club. There are two route options for the 13-mile of either east or west. The 6-mile route is only available on the eastern part of the route, with Coton Rec being the stopping point for 6-mile walkers/runners. The walks/runs will have a starting time between 8am and 10am. Runners are welcome to run for fun and enjoyment; there is no race and no run timings are provided. A free minibus shuttle service will return 6- and 13-mile walkers/runners to their original starting point.
Guidance on the route will be provided through a mobile phone route app and a map guide with support. The route app will be available closer to the time for registered walkers.
All entry proceeds from the Stride will go to help meet the cost of the event and support Cogwheel in its mission to provide affordable mental health counselling for individuals and families in Cambridgeshire.

Fundraise for other charities

Please email Neil at neil@cogwheel.org.uk. for the discount code. If you are a charity or organisation wishing to buy places at the Stride for your own fundraising, please also contact Neil.
